He was united in marriage to<br \/>\nConnie Jo Brooks on June 9, 1963. She survives.<\/p>\n<p>Also surviving are his children: Janice (Tom) Garriott and Michael (Gwen)<br \/>\nTurner; grandchildren: Alicia (David) Settle, Missy (Adam) Baker, Lauren<br \/>\n(Ryan) Schulz, Erin Turner, Jordyn Turner, Kylie (Jake) Watkins, Kami<br \/>\n(Andy) Brown, Kameron (Ali) Carpenter, Sara (Benji) Hensen, and Aaron<br \/>\n(Ashley) Garriott; great-grandchildren: Jaxin, Madax, Eliah, Alexis,<br \/>\nHezekiah, Izzy, Tyler, Norah, Hadassah, Millie, Mila, Saylor, Zoey, Ollie,<br \/>\nQuinley, and Lily; one sister, Jane Turner; and one brother, Dane Turner.<br \/>\nWayne was preceded in death by one sister, Beverly Sue Johnson, and one<br \/>\nbrother, Kent N. Turner.<\/p>\n<p>Wayne was a 1960 graduate of Atlanta High School, a 1962 graduate of<br \/>\nLincoln Junior College, and then a Illinois Wesleyan University graduate in 1964.<br \/>\nWayne first worked for the family business as it evolved from Bill&#8217;s 66 into<br \/>\nTurner Oil Company. Wayne retired at the age of 71 from McLean County<br \/>\ngovernment in the maintenance department at the Law &amp; Justice Center.<\/p>\n<p>He was a 69-year member of the Atlanta Christian Church where he served<br \/>\nas a Deacon and an Elder; a 60-year member of the Atlanta Masonic Lodge<br \/>\nA.F. &amp; A.M. #165; Bloomington Consistory; Mohammed Shrine; and<br \/>\nAtlanta Rotary Club.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2737\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.iwu.edu\/1960sclassnews\/files\/2024\/07\/Turner_Wayne-1-278x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"278\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.iwu.edu\/1960sclassnews\/files\/2024\/07\/Turner_Wayne-1-278x300.jpg 278w, https:\/\/blogs.iwu.edu\/1960sclassnews\/files\/2024\/07\/Turner_Wayne-1.jpg 741w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 278px) 100vw, 278px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>William Wayne Turner &#8217;64, age 82, of Atlanta, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Copper Creek Cottages in Lincoln.
