Dear Illinois Wesleyan University,

I’m saddened to report to you the death of my friend and Illinois Wesleyan alum, E. Lester Munson.  Les passed away March 14, 2013 from multiple myeloma while hospitalized at Rush-Copley in Aurora, Illinois. He had lived in Oswego.  His family asked that I notify Wesleyan as it held a special place in his heart, having earned his undergraduate degree there .  He went on to earn his J.D. from Loyola University School of Law (class of ’91) which is where we became friends.

Sincerely,

Suzanne Nyhan

Homecoming 2013 was definitely a highlight of the year. In addition to the pleasure of meeting President and Mrs. Wilson, working with a great Reunion team of classmates and staff, and being amazed by the terrific new campus buildings there came a new connection to the University. That would be the Ames Library and its Archivist, Meg Miner. She is providing important research data for my project of a presentation on the Civil War service of John Wesley Powell to be given to the the Oklahoma Civil War historical roundtable in 2014. It is great to have a continuing link to this great university.

Still working as a research tech III in textiles, destroying fabric and doing microbial transfer studies. This summer I fulfilled an old dream as Mother Abbess in “The Sound of Music”. Most of my spare time is taken by music rehearsals & performances for five different groups: church choir, hand bell choir, symphony, symphonic band, and brass choir.
