Alums Top Titan Fiscal Goals!
Donors responded firmly in the closing days of fiscal 2014 with the largest number of contributors in ten years. Over 5000 gifts were made, setting a percentage of participation increase for a second consecutive year. That is a strong and promising message of support to the current and future students and their academic plans. Thanks for being there!

Help the Cause….Serve the Future
July 31 is the last opportunity for this fiscal year’s contribution. Please do not let private advanced educational opportunities disappear for future graduates and those who will be the ranks of the Titans in years to come. Our ongoing support is the only means to realize those dreams at the levels we enjoyed in the past. Do it today!
DAVE KINDRED ’63 The Spirit of Sport
The first interest I turned to the year I retired was the bookshelf that held my stash of sports books compiled over four decades of inattention. The plan was to start with the most recent editions and read through dozens of volumes back to 1955. That process of selection meant the GLOVE STORIES (2002) would be the first to read.
Following our 2013 Fiftieth Reunion at IWU, I pulled it off the shelf again. Likewise, I reread his columns from The SPORTING NEWS magazine which were salvaged from the recycle bin. Throughout his 32 year career, Dave,a former Titan second baseman, wrote award winning material about some of the most celebrated sports personalities and events of the 20th Century. In addition to being named a National Sportswriter Of The Year he has received dozens of journalism honors from nationally recognized sources.
But his most gifted writing talent is always just sharing the purest and simplest love of sport as experienced by the common ordinary fan found in what my wife describes as “the fifty cents seats.” Years from now GLOVE STORIES will be one of the half-dozen of my sporting books one will find on my son’s bookshelf. His work will surely inspire young players, fans and writers of future generations.

Well done, Ann Harding
Imagine returning to campus for your 50th Reunion and finding all the things you wanted to do to have fun, visit classmates and learn about todays’s IWU already arranged for a memorable week-end. If it turns out that way, Ann Harding and her staff were behind it. And you have the next year to recall all the memories and acquaintances that are renewed in the event.
Ann Harding is retiring this month so please take this opportunity to her send a word of congratulations and best wishes for her new plans and adventures.
Sincerely,
Frank Wanto ’63
