Daniel Bassill ’68

Daniel Bassill’s work helping inner city youth connect with tutors/mentors has been featured in past IWU magazine articles and was recognized in 2001 when IWU awarded an honorary PhD recognizing his work. Since 2011 Daniel has continued the work under a Tutor/Mentor Institute, LLC structure, with far fewer resources than in past years, but with the same strategies. On October 21, 2015 his use of GIS maps was featured in a Chicago Tribune column by Dawn Turner. You can view the article here. This is a blog Daniel has been writing since 2005 to share ideas, information and strategy that others can use to help build and sustain programs that would help inner city kids move through school and into college, then jobs and careers.

  1. Bob Wertz was a great athlete (high school All American), a terrific teammate during high school and college, a real competitor, a team leader, a fraternity brother, and a friend. He left a lot of great memories through the years. I will miss him, even though he broke my nose twice. Jim Hostetler Class of ’68.
