Well, now that August has come, it seems the summer is winding down. The reality of the coming semester is getting more real every minute, as is the fact that some of the most devoted Titan TV staff members have graduated.
I know we say this a lot, but we really need your help (yeah, you!) to make Titan TV as great a station as it can be. If you would like to sign up, email us at titantv@iwu.edu to get started. Any time you can devote to the station will be greatly appreciated, and we’ll even pay you for it (even though it’s not real work, but you don’t have to tell your parents that).
“I don’t have any experience at a TV station,” you say? That’s not a problem. We’ll teach you everything you need to know. All you have to do is ask.
“What can I do,” you ask? Well, there are plenty of things you can choose from.
For one thing, we’ve been looking desperately for a graphic designer for months. We really need more visual appeal, especially on Titan News.
We can always use more people to write for our station, either for Titan News or for any program you’d like to make. Titan TV 2 was originally intended to consist entirely of student-made shows, but, since some people didn’t know how to edit, but wanted to do everything else, and others knew how to edit but didn’t want to help with anything else, they didn’t come forward, thinking they couldn’t be of any use at all. As you can see, that simply isn’t true. We’re always looking for more new shows. Whether you want to make an episode every week like Titan News, or even just once a month or once a semester, we’d love to give you the opportunity. That’s what we’re here for.
If you want to act, write, film, edit, direct, or produce, but you have no experience or you don’t know what you’d work on, that’s fine, too. Let us know. We may not have anything for you right away, but we’ll put your name on our list and, as soon as something comes up you might be interested in, we’ll let you know. Being on the list does not mean that you have to accept anything we offer, either. It just means you’d like to know when there’s an opportunity.
Even if you don’t want to do anything on a consistent basis, there are still plenty of opportunities for you at Titan TV. If you have an idea for a cool new show, email us (titantv@iwu.edu) and let us know. We’ll even put your name in the credits for every episode just for coming up with the idea (unless you ask us not to). There are also opportunities that don’t involve filmmaking at all; if you want to do things like help make the movie and show schedules for Titan TV 1 and 2, let us know.
Last, but certainly not least, there’s Youtube. We’ve seen IWU students come up with some great ideas for Youtube videos, but end up filming them on their digital camera or cell phone. Promise us you won’t do that injustice to humanity again. We love your ideas (the music video in the basement of Ferguson was hilarious), but we could provide you with the equipment and technical know-how to turn your ideas into viral Internet sensations. Plus, if you tell us we can, we’d love to air your Youtube videos on Titan TV.
So, in short, let us know if there’s anything we can do for you, be it helping you make your own videos, giving you your own television show, helping you spend your free time between classes, homework, and parties, or even just providing you with the equipment and reigns to turn your ideas into a reality.
