Membership in The John Updike Society is inclusive, with teachers, scholars, readers, collectors, and anyone interested in literature by John Updike invited to join. Like all single-author societies, The John Updike Society is organized to promote and sustain interest in the fiction, poetry, criticism, and essays of our author (see History/Mission section for the wording of our mission statement). The Society will host conferences which members can attend, and publish a journal of Updike criticism and scholarship. Until the Society begins publishing The John Updike Review and for at least the first year, membership is free. When the Society does implement annual dues (of no more than $25, with special rates for retirees and students), membership will include a bound copy of the Review. Those who join the first year will be considered Charter Members.
To join, send the following information to James Plath via mail (Dept. of English, Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington, IL 61702-2900) or email (jplath {at} iwu(.)edu): Your name, university affiliation (if any), address, phone, and preferred email address.
